Probably not so much that invisibility is bugged. More likely that hide in shadows is overpowered.

How does one not get caught break and entering into a house or chest? Invisible, Hide in shadow, or no npc is in your line of sight.
Do the people have to have their back turned? Doesn't seem to matter. (except the blacksmith in andiel)
Do shopkeepers ever leave their shop? Yes some do. Try ...

You can use this trick with torches to attack in light, while your enemy attack in darkness. Basically free hits if you have hide in shadows.

This is a bug. Look in the destroyer thread for some screen shots of some people who have used this bug.

Basically, if you put the crux on the pedestal before killing all the guards, the chancellor comes back.

Nothing beats the torch exploit for fighting in darkness.

I remember reading that someone used a hex editor to change the key number in their inventory inorder to access the other doors, but there was nothing of worth in any of the chest.

You can escape using the portal, but all your stuff is gone.

You would be much warmer with some extra torches.
