Re: Complete Equippable Item List

I think you have made a mistake with the magical hand armor (Thieves softened...). A few additions (poor qualitity armor has the same value than the normal armor, but -1 AR). Poor quality Iron Half-Helm Poor quality Chainmail Hauberk Poor quality Studded Leather Belt Tattered Breeches (Legs): - / 1....

Re: Complete Equippable Item List

I personally would add the arrows to the bows, one is not complete without the other. A bow would make up quite a curious smashing weapon if you ask me. Poor quality Mahogany Quarterstaff: 3 / 3.0 / 37 - -1 Damage Poor quality Recurved Short Bow: 3 / 2.0 / 175 - -1 Damage Poor quality Steel D...

Re: Complete Equippable Item List

Great list, thumbs up on this. :) You might want to remove the poor quality objects though. When I worked on my list, I decided to do so after a while. But if you like, I could add mine. It might be helpful to add the information with how many rings an object can be identified. A few annotations: Sk...

Re: pronunciation of Eschalon?

Particularly when you have the "ch" sound directly following an s. It's not difficult when the ch is pronounced as it is in the word chip or as an sh or even as a k. But when it the softer back of the throat "hiss"-like noise immediately following the very front of the mouth at ...

Re: pronunciation of Eschalon?

Unclever title is right. ß is still used, but not in all countries. Switzerland has completely replaced the ß with ss which makes it sometimes hard to read words like Masse (dimensions - "mahse") and Masse (mass - "masse") and thus pronounce them correctly. We are not talking abo...

Re: pronunciation of Eschalon?

Maybe different dialects have a different custom. CSR can enlighten me on the latter. Sorry, but there are too many German dialects to list them all on this board. Several in Austria, several in Switzerland and plenty in Germany. Nö wohr. I noticed that you have listed several possibilities to pron...

Re: pronunciation of Eschalon?

I begin to have fun thinking about the meaning of the word "Eschalon". :) Another, astract idea came to my mind: Eschalon could be a kind of past form of the Greek word "chalao" χαλαω. (An E at the beginning defines the future or the past). Chalao stands for "to relax, to fl...

Re: pronunciation of Eschalon?

My main language is German, so there is no need to discuss German pronunciation in this topic. And I do speek Ancient Greek, so I do know what I am writing about. As I said it is Greek. The Greek word for the afterlife in a spiritual meaning is "Eschaton". - εσχατον Eschatos means otherwor...

Re: pronunciation of Eschalon?

This is just my opinion, but Eschalon is a Greek loanword and means "distant land". Neither of your spelling suggestions were correct: Ess-cha-lon ch - like the ch in the German word "echt" a - like the first a in "bargain" The ch is a single letter in the Greek alphabe...

Re: unarmed skill questions

To kill a magical creature, e.g. Poltergeists, you need, according to the text message, a "weapon or magickal enhancement capable of inflicting bonus damage". I tried to kill a Poltergeist with one of my characters, Unarmed Weapon Skill 5, and I had to wear one of the following items to in...

Re: Skill "Hide in Shadows" in melee combats

FYI: I finally found a character/save file where I could test the skill Hide in Shadows and the Cloak of Shadows, I had one level up in spare: I was in the Tangletree Ossuary, surrounded by 3 skeletons and hidden in the middle of passage. My character was a fighter, dexterity 35, attacking the oppon...

Re: Skill "Hide in Shadows" in melee combats

Yes, I was talking about melee fighting all the time. It seemed quite logical to me that the skill "Hide in Shadows" won't be helpful for a pure mage in combat. You've mentioned Dexterity. That could explain my experiences with the skill and my impression that the cloak of shadow is not he...

Re: Cloak "Hide in Shadows +3" - Possible bug?

I know for sure that one can hide from sceletons and goblins within a combat several times without being noticed and making a step aside. Frankly spoken it is quite fun to stand in a dungeon, surrounded by four sceletons and hitting/damaging them several times while they are walking around and despe...

Re: Cloak "Hide in Shadows +3" - Possible bug?

Thanks for your reply. Searching the forums can provide answers to these questions. In fact I have searched for this matter, but somehow missed this topic, found a lot of posts about "the best approach for rangers" and "reviews" instead. Thanks for mentioning it though. :)...
