I do but I also have a strong penchant for throwing stuff out randomly; recklessly minimalist I suppose :)

Even so, it seems pretty unfair to make a download unavailable after a year. If the company goes out of business I can understand that, no way to get the game to those who have paid for it ...

I think that would make sense, you've purchased the game, why not make it available in every OS?

Going back and reading my first post I wasn't very clear, I just meant switching my license over to linux, not with a CD. I prefer digital download over hard copies, so I wouldn't request that anyway (I originally purchased with CD mostly in order to contribute as much dough as possible), but how ...

But perhaps my license key could simply be transferred to the linux version? I paid for the game, and I'm going to hold on to the windows version; he said something about licenses being transferable before I believe. I shouldn't be dinged for spending more in support of indie devs.

I don't mean ...

Bought Windows version on CD - Transferrable?

Hi,

I purchased a copy of the game on the windows CD when it released, and I was wondering if this was transferable to the linux version?

I'm finding less and less reasons to boot into XP, just seeking one less :)

On a side note, it's a beautiful thing that most indie games run very well in wine ...

Be aware that if you purchase you can only download it for 1 year, then you have to purchase again. I got burned by this personally and will never make an online purchase with this scheme again.

People play only what's been released. Big game companies have a case of "make what's been made because it sold and it will sell again"-itis, and so what is being made forever becomes less and less varied.

There have been thousands of games made since 2000, and maybe 10 of them are as good as the ...

Eschalon - The best Linux RPG available

I think it's fair to say that Eschelon will be the best linux RPG available when it's released for Linux. I just wanted to throw this notion into the mix, I think it's something to think about. I think you might be surprised by how many linux copies sell.

I'm going to wait a week or so after it's ...

Exceeding my expectations

I just wanted to put in a word of encouragement, I finally was able to purchase the game, and it's definitely very good,

I could say that it is really, really good for an indy game, but I think the line between indy and big production games is blurring, besides the fact that 95% of big production ...

I've found applewin to be extremely intuitive in its use, it really feels like you have an apple computer sitting in front of you in some sense (I grew up with an apple and the program brings back that same feeling of running one).

Compared to for instance dosbox, it's very straightforward and ...

I just wanted to say, I set it to OpenGL and it's scoring around 1 or 2 now. The effects/atmosphere of the game are great; It feels like a more solid game than Oblivion to me (I felt like oblivion was essentially just a big empty), definitely the most solid indy RPG I've played.

I'm more of a party ...

Some Thoughts

Hey,

I wanted to give some thoughts on the game after playing the demo for a couple of hours now:

First, I think that the closest parallel that can be drawn in terms of the nature of the gameplay is to that of Ultima 7; Similar rewards for exploring, similarly interesting and varied things to ...

Cool, it sounds pretty flexible then, I suppose I'll just need to see it to get the idea of it.

Some skills might cost more to raise for certain classes? I haven't studied much into the game but I'd imagine it'd be this way? I'm looking forward to the game too, just wanted to put in this thought.

But I'd think that for instance a warrior wouldn't find it as easy to learn magic skills as a ...

Deathlord

There's a game called Deathlord that was only made for the Apple //e computer and I think the Amiga, and it's honestly better than Ultima 1-6 were, in similar style, with an oriental theme, and devious puzzles and dungeons.

The world is over 1 million tiles in size, the combat is very enjoyable ...
