Re: Question about skill feats

Thanks for the response; trained bows accordingly. It's nice to be able to save up the special attacks for tougher baddies. Now saving up for pierce training...

Question about skill feats

I'd test this myself, but I don't feel like saving up the skill points needed to do so...

Anyway, the question is this: if you have 10 or more points in multiple weapon skills (let's say swords and bows), will both skill feats become available while you're running around? So, could you snipe ...

I usually get the gate key (from Darkloft), but I generally don't use it.. if you followed through on the quest from the priest in Arindell, you should have gotten an ...

When you say "doors to Crakamir", you mean the goblin citadel (rectangular diamond thing that spans multiple maps)?

The Giants are not inside the cidadel, you should find them and talk to their leader. They're on the map that's one down and one west from Blackwater.

I've never been to the citadel ...

*bump*
I mope around pining for a repeat of my first Escape Velocity experience. Or my awe at Deus Ex. I guess a lot of it is nostalgia.

QFT. Two greatest games ever made, hands down (with Portal coming in at a distant but significant third :) ). EV was a 2D, top-down mix between space shooter ...

Regen Rates?

Mana regeneration rate seems to be capped at one point per three turns, no? (Currently getting it with 35 perception, 7 meditation, though I think I had the same regen at 30 perception, 5 meditation.) If so, kind of disappointing... almost makes meditation of more than ~5 worthless. Am I right, or ...

Okay, I out-did myself on this one. Level 13, *no magick*. The hardest part was finding enough willow sap to make healing potions early on. -_-

Pumped END early then focused on STR; threw almost all my skill points into heavy armor and swords (had some survival, but didn't seem that useful).

Didn ...

Re: original question:

It's easy to spread your character to thin, and as a result get a guy who's versatile but ineffective. Alchemy and Cartography are key, but you don't really need them right away, and can be trained, so are not great at character creation. At the start, pick a weapon ...

Agreed on the rogue point -- they're definitely underpowered. To be effective they need so many skills.. eg if you want to be a stalker, you need hide in shadows, move silently, a weapon skill, and either alchemy or magic to get cat eyes, (plus light armor, but you don't need to pump it for DR, I ...

Hmm.. If you don't know what you're looking for there, chances are you need to do some of the main quest first (amulet, Lillith) before it will let you interact with said man... not sure though.

Go to shops and [left?] click on it, they'll offer to ID it for you.. it's usually pretty expensive, 300+ gold or something.

Alchemy is typically a must, but you can buy it up to 5, and usually find a book for another 2, and hang on to any rings of the brewmaster or whatever they're called. Alchemy skill of 10 is key, for making heal/mana III, so with a ring and a book or two rings you don't ever need to put skill points ...

Woo, level 14, bizzatches, running in E:B1's linuxy goodness. It wasn't actually that hard after I started using my haste potions (but only had one each of I,II, and III). Also used a couple demon oils, 5x each of healing III and mana III, some other random ...

Huge kudos to all the folks at Basilisk Games

I came across E:B1 about a week ago while bored at home and looking for games to play on my [linux] laptop. Back In The Day (tm) I played the Exile and Avernum* series, Fallout 1&2 (actually revisiting F2 now :D), and have been a fair-weather fan of some of the M&M series. I have to say that ...
