I am an old(er) school computer gamer, and grew up on the Ultima series of games as well as the SSI gold box games, among others. I absolutely loved gaming on the PC, it was such a great creative/technical environment, so different from most main stream stuff. I really miss those old days, and feel that the vast majority of games (at least on the PC - I don't do much consoling) are insipid, boring and all graphics.
I truly enjoy the "feel" of Eschalon. The 2d graphics convey a sense of warmth and depth to them, that most 3d based games lack. I think the 3rd person perspective really works, and the graphics (in my opinion) are very well done! The music, opening "movie" and atmosphere are all excellent. The fact that it's a slower paced RPG is very nice as well.
I found myself struggling a bit with my character, but after a few retries am doing very well - I haven't finished the game yet, but am in no rush.
Excellent job Basilisk! Keep up the good work!
