The Warrior's Tale

Post by Dragonlady »

Has anyone played this PC game? "The Warrior's Tale" is based/look-like on "The Bard's Tale" series. It is so hard! I make up a 1st level party and just trying to go along the streets to get to the Armoury for better stuff is a killer! Let alone trying to get to the temple and it's expensive heals/raise dead stuff. Is there somewhere closer to the Adventurer's Tavern to buy stuff? Even kicking in doors gets me into trouble and I can't seem to run away. :( I sure wish we could save else where than the AD. tavern! I guess I should start over with a better party and use the ol' trick of making party, pool money get rid of all but 1, make more, pool money...trick. sigh. :(

Interesting find Dragonlady. Im a big fan of the Bard's Tale games so this might be right up my alley. Interesting art direction on this game.

I will have to give it a try.

I wouldn't know about that stuff. I downloaded it to my MacG4 and my son moved it to my Mac laptop, PC side. I just clicked on it to open files and read the manuals/looked at maps and double clicked on the game icon. Saw the wait a minute sign..I think it did take about a minute and a half actually and then was instantly 'in' the Adventurer's Tavern where you can create folks, add to a party, delete, etc.

I've managed to eek my way up to 2nd level for all 6 characters. But even roaming the streets to get to guild house to go up or to temple, etc. is extremely dangerous. It's taking me a while to get used to playing very cautious. :) Been a long, long time since I played Bards Tale or games like this.

I do hope you can play it soon. My group just got to 3rd level and I was a bit too cocky after savign it and half my group got killed by 3 mages and 3 Monk type characters. Those mages were horrid! I may start over with a new group and really hit the re-roll button to get the best stats I can.

One hint, get short bow for number 5 position and longbow for #6 position, especially if they are mage characters. Those mana points run down fast and that way they can still do damage to the bad guys Until you can get to the guy who restores mana. :)

Sounds like a hard game. Im a fan of hard games as long as they are reasonably hard, too many games now make things way to simple, I need a challenge.

Already did

The developer responded and said that the game might not be playable for me and asked for my system specs. Oh well, I have lots of other games to play.

Darn.

I stopped playing it for a little while as I discovered another old game this morning. "Odessy: The Legend of Nemesis" It uses Os9 (classic) and I have to keep remembering to turn it off to use my Mac normally. :D Luckily it has hints and a walkthru.
