MUSIC FOR ADVENTURERS
Re: MUSIC FOR ADVENTURERS
I often listen to game soundtracks. Especially Baldurs Gate 2, lionheart and some very old game soundtracks.

Hi, zen grey here.
This year, one of my co-workers turned me onto a Swedish 'viking metal' band named Amon Amarth. If you are a fan of the heavier side of metal, but like your music to actually be melodic, you should check these guys out. Their last album was titled 'With Oden on Our Side'. Very heavily battle-themed, very graphic descriptions of war and 'pagan' (Norse) mythology. They have some videos on YouTube, including one of my favorites, 'Runes to My Memory'. Inexplicably, that song makes me a little teary.
Anyhow, just my $0.02. Hope you all are doing well. Cheers, zen grey.

Re: MUSIC FOR ADVENTURERS
I'm not a fan of game music in general. I much prefer the situational sounds. Eschalon's no different: I turn off the music and turn up the "atmosphere" and "footsteps" volume.
As for listening to cd's/tapes (no longer have a record player, oh well) while playing games... with some games I do... with Eschalon I don't. And no, I never choose any specific type of music to go with whatever game I happen to be playing.

Certainty: a character-driven, literary, turn-based mini-CRPG in which Vasek, legendary "Wandering Philosopher", seeks certainties in a cryptically insular, organic, critically layered city.

Hmm, Adventurer's Music? I'd say most Black Metal music, especially Satyricon and Burzum

Of course, if I needed to choose a 'soundtrack', I think I'd have to go literal and choose The Valerie Project, which was a nice replacement soundtrack for the Czech(oslavakian) film of Vitezslav Nezval’s book Valerie and Her Week of Wonders.
I suggest checking out all three.

I've been listening to bands like Manticora, and Symphony-X lately, and their music is very epic sounding, I'd love it if they were used in soundtracks, the lyrics would suit the games as well.
