Niggling questions (spoilers)

Post by Farwalker »

Thought I'd start a thread for those little niggling questions (that a quick search through the forum doesn't answer).

Here's two to start. The lever outside Blackwater beside the gate that doesn't work - does it do anything besides not open that gate? Also, is there anything interesting about that well in Blackwater that is dry? (I was ready to climb down and check it out!)

Hey, you never know right?

I think that these have been answered in some other threads...(at least, the lever one has)...but, I believe, no and no.

I could have missed it, but I thought only the lever in the Blacksmith's shop in Aridell was mentioned.

Here's another one - I just finished mapping all the ins and outs of the Baron's Thicket. Ugg. Is that kind of mapping a waste of time in this game, or are there hidden goodies to be found in the middle of nowhere that you won't find otherwise?

By the way, I vote for a reveal map spell etc that isn't limited by line of sight!

I think the answer to your quest is somewhere in the forums unless it was deleted during the switch. If my faulty memory recalls correctly the uselss gate switch in Blackwater and the dry well were going to be hooked up somehow to the lighthouse quest which was never added. It may some day...after book II and III are done. Or the well was going to be connected to one of the 'bandit' quests you get in Blackwater. Just dead ends and things to frustrate the player with. :)

I, too, would kinda like the 'reveal map' spell to reveal all or a large part of the map around you even if you can't see that far.

As for Baron's thicket, I think its a time waster to chart all of it except to kill off the raptors for the experience. I don't recall any hidden chests expect those in the 'preserve' area.

Cloak of the shadow

Post by Farwalker »

Thanks Dragonlady! The search function doesn't seem to be 100%, not sure why but I've had to go looking the hard way for things I knew were in there when they wouldn't show up in a search.

And on that note, I'll add a niggling answer in hopes it will show up for someone else's forum search...

"Why oh why is my cloak of the shadow not working? Doesn't it give me a hide in shadows of 3?"

Answer: Don't throw out the cloak yet! For some reason hiding in shadows doesn't seem to kick in unless you have a natural point in the skill first. Add a skill point or find and read the training book, then try the cloak again and you'll find it's helping.

Caveat: I haven't tried the hiding rings to see if they work in a similar way.

Happy adventuring!

Ok, here's another niggling question.

Those burial vaults outside the ossuary, is it possible to crack them open somehow?
I wondered if a level 6 supernova might put a dent in them, but I don't have a character that can do such a thing.
(I noticed a level 2 supernova starts to cause damage to a few items that a level 1 supernova, and anything else I could think of, didn't.)

Yes well err... >cough<

You see, there's this secret society that's been conspiring to hide... em... cultural artifacts in grave sites!
Shocking that they would even think to desecrate these sacred sites!
We're investigating and... um... rescuing these artifacts to enrich today's culture! Yeah, that's it!!

(psst, what about all those femurs and skulls we sold for drink money???)
(shhh!!!!!)

Ok, I remembered another one... the teleporter in South Parish (66, 142). Any way to get that functioning?
