Level 15 well that is not so bad. So I assume them you are planning to have characters from Book I importable into Book II at their current level.

Im probably in the minority here, but I have always prefered starting at level 1 again with sequels like the ultima series did (Or at least close to level 1).

For some reason I always enjoy the lower levels of game more....might have something to do with rare items and gold etc....Seems like gold and quality items are hard to come by early so its fun striving for it, but then when you get high level you usually have more gold and items than you know what to do with....kind of takes the fun out of it for me.

Most sequels that start you are epic levels I pass on....not to say I will on this one though.....

Which design document?
I don't think I'll be wrong if I say ALL the forum dwellers here ask loudly for some fresh info, screenshot and news.
So, in the name of ALL OF US, please give us something to read/look at.

It's a lot like waiting for Christmas, isn't it? To the developers of Eschalon: I applaud you for taking your time in making this game. Most developers just try to get out a game as quick as possible, without making sure it's a quality game. They're after money, and you guys are after a solid game and the return customers that said type of game will bring. Keep on developing, you're a good influence!

One thing I will say about design documents - post scans/pictures of this stuff after the game is released.

I have a friend who was a key developer on another game (DROD) and he has released scans of design docs as part of bonus content. It made for a lot of fun seeing the crude hand-drawn stuff and comparing it to the final product!

So, like the previous post said - do the right thing now and get the game ready to release. But when you are done, we'd love to know more of the behind-the-scenes stuff!

I'm curious, will you have a hint booklet for the game? Like Spiderweb games company does (as well as other companies do) or will we have to make our own screen shots of dungeons and items and other goodies?

WORD!! This is a GREAT idea. I'd love to see this kind of material!

AMEN.

I agree, Basilisk should take their time with the game/s, after so many CRPG disappointments over the last year, id be willing to do anything to play a half decent rpg - even if it means waiting out a bit longer.

Death and Dying

What happens if your character gets killed? :cry: Reload previous save? Or is there some sort of death penalty/auto-resurrection, perhaps at some milestone or the nearest town or cemetery? Since Book 1 isn't party-based (right?), you can't depend on your healer to bring you back to life. . . .

I hope we simply die and we need to reload a game.
This is not an hack 'n slash game.
In a good RPG I expect my choices bring me good experience or terrible consequences (till death).
What do you think?

Death = reload.

Since there are no party members to resurrect you, when you die, you die.
