I guess I got too close to the Alchemist in Bordertown when I went to look in the chest by the well. It appears that I was caught "stealing" and now he wants to fight. Is there any way to make peace so that I can deal with him again? I still need to get level 5 alchemy and would like to be able to trade for potions (mana and health).
Thank you!
P.S. Would consider editing save files at this point.
Making peace with the towns folk.

Re: Making peace with the towns folk.
There's always the charm spell, I do believe it will work on that particular NPC, but I've only ever found the charm spell in stores in Blackwater and this is also only periodically.
But after the effects of charm wear off he'll be a normal happy NPC again.
Of course the easiest solution is to reload a previous save file, but I'm assuming that that's already impossible. Beyond those options I don't know how to fix the problem.

FYI, the way to avoid that happening in the future is to try to pilfer that particular chest at night. If your Hide In Shadows skill is high enough, Gamfari won't be able to see you pilfering it!Rhipf wrote:I guess I got too close to the Alchemist in Bordertown when I went to look in the chest by the well. P.S. A similar trick of dowsing the flame of his bedroom torch will work when pilfering from crypt keeper's chest in Eversleep Cemetary.

Thank you for the help.
I finally got around to trying the charm spell and it worked like a charm (pun intended).
The character was too new to find the spell on its own so I fired up the editor found in another post here to add (then again to remove) the spell. Now I have all five levels of alchemy as well as the two extra from reading a book (sorry forgot the name of the book needed).
