Anyone ever get these bad boys? I played through the first eight or so and read the first 4 Legends of Lone Wolf novels years ago. They recently started re-releasing them through Mongoose Publishing in expanded form... Joe Dever himself re-wrote the first book which is about 30-40% larger. Trying to decide if I want to spring for the collector's editions or just wait for them to show up in normal paperback @ the book stores. These books are what really got me into tabletop RPGing, and probably rpg gaming in general.
I'd also like to someday track down all 12 of the Legends of Lone Wolf novels... only the first four were published in the U.S. >.<

Re: Lone Wolf Game Books
I inherited a pile of these from my brother (along with an interest in roleplaying), and I always thought they were some of the best gamebooks around. I always thought the quality of the writing and storylines was a cut above the Fighting Fantasy series, and the continuous plot carried between the books was an excellent hook.
I can't remember exactly how many books I played, but I think I finished all of the Kai and Magnakai books, but didn't get any further. Did you also get the World of Lone Wolf series? You played the part of the sorcerer Grey Star, and I found they were also an enjoyable read.
Finally, I've been poking around and I have some great news for anyone looking to (re)live the fun of these books. Apparently, a lot of the older books are available for free download. I was a little hesitant to put that link up, but I have done some digging and it does appear to be legal - apparently Joe Dever has secured the full rights to the text, and it's been done with his full permission. Pretty generous of him, really!
Looks like they've got the full Kai and Magnakai series, and most of the Grand Master series, with the final two pending - it's a volunteer project, so they might take awhile, I'm guessing. They've also got all four books in the World of Lone Wolf series, and a whole of lot of other goodies, too.
Damn, as if I didn't have enough demands on my time with Fallout 3 and playing through Book I again as a mage... Ah, life's such a trial sometimes.

I've been to Project Aon a few times, and played through the first few books again... they have a really nifty webapp called StatsKeeper that allows you to play through the books and track your stats, inventory, make dice rolls... it's as Borat would say, "Very Nice!"

I think I remember some of these from waaaay back when. Might even have one or two somewhere around here. I downloaded the first Kai book to see if it rings any bells in my mind. The subject info did seem very familier. And the 1980's was when I was heavily into table gaming and anything my household budget could afford to get.
Just ment more hamburger and pasta for dinner.

Okay! I do remember the first book. I think I remember doing books 1-3, not sure about 4. Fun rereading it, forgot most of it!
Thanks for finding that.
