Movie: Hellboy...

Post by Rush »

SPOILERS-!
If you haven't seen the movie and are planning to...back out of this post now...

So, I finally got around to seeing it tonight. I only bring it up here because of it's "fantasy" theme regarding Elves and other such folk who were featured.

The nasty old "bad guy" of the movie was an Elf, who by my standards, wasn't a bad guy at all. Alone, and without the blessings of his people, he took on the task of saving Elven-kind (and again, other such folk) from fading once and for all from a land now ravaged by the destructive appetites of Man-kind...

It kind of bummed me out that he had to die.

Any thoughts one way or another?

You say Hellboy, but I think you mean the sequel, Hellboy 2: The Golden Army, right?

Although I watch a ton of films, I haven't seen this one yet mostly because I wasn't thrilled with the first one. I always liked the characters and the premise, though I had problems with the first film's execution and pacing (yes, I tend to over analyze movies).

it was cool but doesn't stand up to more recent super-hero movies like dakr night or ironman.

the new movie spirit is kind of cool but it is not the best either.

Yep, I meant Hellboy II. Sorry about the confusion. Too much coffee I guess. That the movie centered around Elves and the like was what made it interesting for me.

Many authors of fantasy touch upon: If Elves, Dwarves, Halflings and other such fantasy folk existed...what happened to them and/or where are they now?

Basically (for fun), I like to believe they existed and that we may yet discover some traces of them some day. After all, humanity mentions them quite often in it's folklore, and who is to say what truth, if any, dwells in these fables and tales of old?
