This is one recommendation I haven't seen, or something I haven't seen people complain about.
When someone gives a quest, I find the target location or region often to be confusing or too far off. For instance when someone refers to "the west of the Salt Coast" I go looking on the West Salt Coast, and not on the East Salt Coast. Or when someone was attacked "east of Blackwater" then I go one map to the right, while I actually need to go even further (and not to the east). I've discovered a couple of wonderful locations on these wanderings, but I've found myself mostly frustrated that I couldn't solve the quest within a reasonable time without looking for spoilers or stumbling upon it by accident at a later time.
This might be a good suggestion for the Cartography skill: perhaps you could get some extra hints if you have enough points in cartography. Or for having enough points in Survival to track footprints for instance, just to give some extra directions from time to time.
