Steam version questions

Post by jfunk »

Greetings.

Just found out about this game when it was added to Steam. Been playing the demo a bit and enjoying it.

A couple of questions about the Steam version.

1. Will I be able to manually launch the game without Steam? I generally avoid purchasing single player games on Steam because it's annoying to not be able to play if my internet connection goes out unexpectedly. However, some of the smaller games seem to not really be "Steam-aware" and can be launched directly from the exe just like a non-steam version. I would prefer to buy from Steam if this is the case, just because it's easier to not have to store the registration info and stuff which I will probably lose eventually.

2. Will new patches to the game provided here be compatible with the Steam version or be made available via Steam updates?

Thanks.

Just tested this- I can disable my internet connection and the game still launches, so yes it should work without Steam.

As for patches, yes, we can patch the Steam version. However, we do not have any plans to produce any more patches to the game at this time. There are only a tiny number of non-critical "issues" left with the game and we are putting all our efforts into Book II, so it may be several months before we consider doing anything else to Book I. Version 1.05 is, for the most part, considered extremely stable and complete.
