Torches (and the complications thereof)

Post by aztejang »

So, for the longest time I was able to use my torch (light it, put it out) without progressing rounds. Meaning, I could turn it on and my foes would not move. Suddenly, I am not able to do this.. which sort of screws up my stab-in-the-dark tactics, but oh well. Was my being able to use it and not affect rounds a glitch? or did I just stumble upon one, not being able to use the torch in that way? Or are they perhaps not glitch-linked at all but stat/gear-linked?

There is supposed to be the passage of rounds when you light/douse a torch. There is still an exploit of said task that allows you to strike from the shadows, but that will be corrected come Book II. It may just be the fact that enemies don't always move from their positions (especially if they can't see you) that caused you to mistake it for the lack of time passing.

Yes, once in a while you'll get a couple of those brigands who're not complete idiots, and when you stand in your niche waiting for one of them to step inside: they refuse to do so but instead wait for you just on the edge, outside the niche and out of your bow's path. You have to step out to meet them and then wack! "Ow!" And then in comes the next. And then a few rounds later you're dead.

It only seems to happen with the tougher ones . . . the Shady Character's minions, for example.

I know this has nothing to do with torches, but I was reminded... .
Certainty: a character-driven, literary, turn-based mini-CRPG in which Vasek, legendary "Wandering Philosopher", seeks certainties in a cryptically insular, organic, critically layered city.
