What kind of magic.

Post by johnbortion »

Hey guys. I beat the game as a fighter a few days ago and I'm working on my elemental magic character now. I'm up to 30 on the elemental skill, and 5 on divination. If you were me and you were leveling up, would you put more points on divination or try to max out the elemental skill? I got divination (from the priest) strictly for the 'lore' spell. But now that I look at the divination spells, there's some really nice ones out there. Am I risking getting killed if I get more divination points? Do most of your magic characters end up with a combination of both elemental and divination skills? Thanks.

Both Elemental and Divination magic 'max out' after Level 33.

So, basically, but 3 more points into Elemental, and then you can do what you want! :)

I find Divination magic to be substantially less useful than Elemental.

With Divination, the Heal spell is a must! the Bless, Cat's Eyes & Lore spells are good, the Fleshboil, Detox & Cure Disease spells are nice, and the Turn Undead spell is passable.

IMO, none of the other Divination spells are all that necessary, and a few (Sunder Flesh, Smite & Dehex) are quite disappointing in Book I.

But, YMMV.

Thanks for the info, Ball. Maybe I'll put some points into cleaving weapons for those delicate situations when magic just doesn't do it and I need to get in there and get dirty. Sorry if that sounds sexual, but that's just the way I feel about this game.
