It looks somewhat interesting so far from what I have seen. My biggest concerns about Bioware games is recently there games have been quite linear with boxed in areas and pretty bland. I did like Baldur's Gate so Im hoping its got somthing of that to it, but we will see.

Boxed in or not (which I agree) it's the best thing on the horizon. Sadly the CRPG genre is not the giant it once was :(

We shall see. I hope EA doesn't cause too much grief with this project, too...

Has anyone seen the new trailer/gameplay footage? I still have high hopes for the game, but I must admit I died just a little bit inside when I saw it. Seems too actiony from what I thought it was supposed to be. I was thinking this was supposed to be much more old-school wrapped in a candy shell. :?

4.07: Will this game be an open-world-rpg like Oblivion and gothic 3 or a game divided in levels like BG2? (Back to Top)

Dragon Age Origins is going to be similar to other classic BioWare titles like Baldur’s Gate or Neverwinter Nights. There will be a great many areas to explore and experience with a strong narrative story to drive you through the game.
5.01: Is it real-time or turn-based? (Back to Top)

Combat in Dragon Age: Origins takes place in real-time. In addition, we included a pause-and-play system that allows players to take a more tactical approach to the game
As long as they can keep the same level of story and character development as BG2 & NWN2, I'm sure I'll enjoy the game. But the realtime factor w/pause sticks it squarely in Action-RPG territory. Not much old-school there.

I still don't know what to think of this really. For some reason, I find myself with more optimism for the single player Torchwood game.

Have to agree with you Thomas, Im not impressed with what I am seeing. Seems like each new thing they put out gets me less and less interested.

Sure hope its better than it looks.

But when I think about it, I think the only Bioware games I liked were their infinity engine games anyway.

Yeah that Marilyn Manson trailer that they put out a short while ago really turned me off of this.

Ok....Thomas...I'm gonna have to disagree on this part...it was a trailer to draw in the crowd... It wasn't a trailer with GUI or anything, it was more cut scenes and falsh. Battles are fast and it showed in the vid...I actually really liked it. Thought it kicked ass.

I'm not sure where you are getting an action rpg out of it...seemed there were some character interaction interspersed with the battles(although I think this video was more about battles) If you can pause the game and give commands and have battles look like that? Wow.

Was thinking of NWN2, that game was just a huge pile of crap I thought. But I just remember it was developed by Obsidian and published by Bioware.

Actually you could do alot in any order you wanted so even nwn 2 wasn't linear....and it had its moments.
