yay for getting closer to the release date

Post by mushpuppy »

Hey hey hey looking forward to this great game.

I realize it's not much of a post but it's no less heartfelt for all of that.

Probably someone has said this already and I realize most of the features probably are already installed, but it would be pretty cool if cartography allowed us actually to go in among the trees. Maybe find hidden caves & such.

Yeah yeah I got a life, a job, a wife, and a child (i.e., little free time) and don't have time to read through all the posts. But boy do I wish Basilisk lots of success!

Go in among the trees??
What do you mean?

I don't understand you.

Do you mean going through trees?
I think he means that with high Cartography you can find hidden paths in the forest that could lead to interesting stuff. Maybe make it connected to or similar to Spot Hidden, but for map items.

Perhaps, a line will show up between the trees to show paths otherwise disguised by the isometric view or actually "hidden".

A high Cartography skill allows you to draw a more accurate map. Spot hidden should be used to find hidden or difficult to find paths. Once the path is found the high cartography skill would allow the character to draw the hidden path in great detail, so anyone using the map could find it. A high Cartography skill would also come in handy when walking through a maze.

Either way it'd be nice to be able to find those hidden paths in the trees.

Curse those trees!

Where are Republicans when you need them?

Should there be a Bulldozer spell?

The political jab was unnecessary. I do agree that a Bulldozer or Break Down Wall / Door spell makes for an interesting environment. I always wondered why I could cast the equivalent of a tactical nuke in Bard's Tale but not break my way into a locked thatch hut.

Sure it was unnecessary . . . but it was funny, wasn't it?

Then again, maybe not; what do I know about what people I don't know find funny?

Anyway... it would be interesting if we could start forest fires and cast destructive spells to let us eventually completely level Thaermore to the ground, piece by piece . . . though I suppose this would be a little gratuitous.

No, no, it would have to be slower than that. Here's what my fantasy looks like (understanding that fantasies are, by nature, not meant to be realized): Not a Nuke Screen sort of spell, but just burning down or blowing up specific areas, such as being able to ransack and completely level Aridell, just for an example, and then to proceed evilly and ludicrously from there... . Perhaps at some point somebody will take notice that you're destroying Thaermore, and whine about it.

...and, again, the ability to start out-of-control forest fires.
...Whee!
