How many times have you replayed Book I ?

Post by mdev »

As I'm on my fifth time through, I'm curious about how many times others have replayed Book I up to one of the possible endings. You're sincerely invited to share more information on characters you played and reasons for playing the game again.

According to my save files I have three confirmed playthroughs, though I've started many, many more, and currently (though I haven't played in several months due to school) I have a level 9 minimum HP/MP regeneration character going on.

Depending on when Book II comes out it may be a LONG time before I finish his story.

While waiting for Book 2 I decided to really get to know how Book 1 worked. I started with a couple of characters of my own design. Then I worked through the 5 preset characters. Then I started looking at all the possible attributes I had ignored. Played once with a guy who used a shield. Since that made a bow and arrow a pain he had to use Fire Dart for his ranged weapon. My last guy (and I do mean last) was designed to test Unarmed Combat. I believe I've tried every possible spell also. I've entered every map from every direction possible. Can't think of any stones left unturned. What's interesting is what a great job BW did of balancing the game - unbelievable really....

I had to put 8+, I lost count of how many times I've played it. Started out Beta testing, then full game over and over...

It depends how you count it.

If you count all the characters I started playing with, including those I aborted half-way (or less!) through, it would be well more than 8.

But if you counted only the ones I actually finished the game with, I think the number would be between 5 and 8. :|

I've had 2 games where I've reached the end. I don't know how many partial games I've started to test out different starting classes or iron man challenges where the game ends with the first death for that character.

Oh, nice idea doing an iron-man sort of character. Also, how about one where you can't run to the next map to escape death?

I'm currently trying the "Pure Mage" challenge game (see viewtopic.php?f=3&t=729), and while I found the first few days in Thaermore to be quite difficult to master, I'm currently enjoying the pure mage approach very much.

It's great fun to be able to hide, then out of nowhere have the unsuspecting foes compressed to piles of blood and bones at a wave of my hand. Especially the ones, which gave me a hard time before.

Next try might be "Survivorman", although this is possibly a bit over the top for my current experience level with Book I. But then: I'll never know, if I don't try.

I'm on my second go...

The first time around I played as a fighter. This time I'm playing as a wizard. It's a bit more challenging, since you have to manage your mana well in order to be successful at it. But I think I'm finally getting the hang of it. I like the wide range of spells, though I've found some to be more useful than others. That compress air spell is killer! :P

I think next time I'll play as a thief or ranger... not sure how exciting it will be playing as a healer.
