I have noticed that Goblin Gruzz from Whistling Cave was supposed to ask the player about one more quest some in between these lines:
South of Goblin Obelisk there is a tree with yellow leaves. Locate dead tree near by (prize is hidden in there).
I am just wondering for some more info about this one. I was not successful in locating the mentioned trees. Is this quest unfinished/unpublished for some reason? Is it the reason why game crashes when the player tries to attack Goblin Gruzz when certain dialog is chosen?

Re: Unpublished quest
I thought I had tried every option available in Book 1, but apparently not. I had certainly never seen any dialog involving a goblin obelisk and a tree with yellow leaves, so I thought I should check it out.
I pulled up an old game and trotted to the Whispering Cave to talk to Gruzz. What happened was that I went through every possible dialog option until I got to "I'm going to kill you" followed by an attack. At that point the program crashed. So, it looks like something strange is going on there, but what exactly it is, I can't tell.....

Re: Unpublished quest
There was a game crashing bug with that Goblin, but the last version was supposed to fix that problem. You might want to see which version you have.
I never saw that dialog section so it might be something put in that wasn't used.

Re: Unpublished quest
The bug was fixed in the 1.05 patch.
As far as I know, there is no such quest.

Re: Unpublished quest
OK, here comes more. The actual text of the quest is as follows:
Locate a 'prize' that the Goblin Gruzz has told you about. Find the Goblin Obelisk in Crakamir, travel south until you see a tree with yellow leaves, then locate the dead tree nearby. The prize is hidden there.
I got it with following command:
Those lines are found in between other quest lines, so that is why I am of an opinion that for some or the other reason the quest above was not included in the original game. I was hopping that someone involved in actual game programming would provide some comment which would reveal reasons why the quest was dropped, I am just too curious. I know that the quest is not available in the current version although I tried to locate the tries without success.
In the case above eschalon_book_1 is Linux version of the game bought 2 years ago approximately (i.e. I don't know the exact version, but I do know that the Gruzz crash happens in my case).

Re: Unpublished quest
The "Prize Quest" was part of an unfulfilled add-on that was never released (lots of info on this can be read throughout the forums). We wanted to extend Book 1 with a couple new quests through this add-on, but certain limitations prevented this from happening. A few quests were left inactive because of this.
