No auto attack?

I just started playing Eschalon again in anticipation of Book II and I have a bit of a problem. I seem to remember being able to continue attacking if you hold the left mouse button down, however, when I try to keep attacking nothing happens until I press the button again. Am I just delusional or is this not right? I just switched to a new mouse but that is the only thing that I can think that would have a impact on combat. Anyways, if anyone could help me out I would be much obliged

I just pulled up an old game, found an enemy (not hard to do) and held down the left mouse button. I got one arrow off and that was all. We just sat and waited at that point.

BTW, am playing on a MAC with a Logitech mouse.

I couldn't do that, either. I had to press the button like a madman to attack anyone.

I'm playing on Windows 7 with an old A4Tech mini mouse.

Pretty sure there's never been an auto attack for holding the button down.

There's an 'auto walk' for holding the mouse button down in front of your character but not an attack.

Ah, good, I thought that I was going crazy. I don't have a problem with constantly pressing the left mouse button to attack (I am a rougelike veteran) but I thought I may have been doing something wrong, thanks for the help everyone
