Changing Weapons
Changing Weapons
Hello,
I just started Eschalon, after a longer break. I'm a fighter, and I'm using a shield too. For distant attacks I'm using a bow. So there is a "change weapon" button in the Gui, fine. But if I'm wearing a shield and want to use the bow (or a torch), I have to manually unwear the shield to use the "change weapon"-button. Thats annoying. It would be nice if pressing the button would automatically unwear the shield to (the same when I want to use a torch).

In Book II, there are "weapon sets," which will allow you to change whole groups of equipment with one click. But unlike Book I, it will take 1 round per piece you are changing, so you have to be careful of nearby enemies.

I have never felt that shields were worth the trouble because of the switching required. The one time I played the game with a shield I used Fire Dart as my ranged weapon to make the game play flow better.........

I approve of that improvement, yes I do.Kreador Freeaxe wrote:In Book II, there are "weapon sets," which will allow you to change whole groups of equipment with one click. But unlike Book I, it will take 1 round per piece you are changing, so you have to be careful of nearby enemies.
Certainty: a character-driven, literary, turn-based mini-CRPG in which Vasek, legendary "Wandering Philosopher", seeks certainties in a cryptically insular, organic, critically layered city.

Aww, being able to switch gear with no penalties was a nice little exploit while it lasted. But I'd say its worth the trade-off if I can swamp gear sets. When playing my paladin (sword and board fighter with divination spells), I always had to manually unequip my shield before switching to my bow, as well.

You mean your paladin surfs? You can do that in Eschalon?Arkos wrote:When playing my paladin (sword and board fighter with divination spells)

How're the sharks biting?

... to the sides. That ones really hurt. Also, it's very difficult to surf in full combat gear, so we have to take everything off...Dragonlady wrote:It doesn't do to bite sharks. Surfing in full plate isn't the problem. It's when you fall off the board and have to walk to shore.King_ov_Death wrote:Also, it's very difficult to surf in full combat gear, so we have to take everything off...

Heck, you're right. I hope BW has included a Breathe Water spell in Book II.Kreador Freeaxe wrote:Surfing in full plate isn't the problem. Either that or the local merchants will have to stock up on air tanks.
