Unreachable area in Grimmhold?

I've been playing through Book 1 again as a Ranger (like I have nothing else to do while I wait for Book 2), and I noticed what seems to be an unreachable area in Grimmhold.

When I proceed through the graveyard and get to the chasm, there's an area on the other side with a lone salamander wandering around. I can shoot him from across the chasm with my bow, but I don't see any way to get across, nor can I seem to find a way to that area from the other side of Grimmhold. Can I get over there, and if so how do you reach it, or is BW taunting us by making us think there's something to do over there when there really isn't?

I think that area is just to tease us. I always kill the salamander just for drill........

It is actually unreachable. I've already examined that portion of the map with the Map Editor. Too bad...
