To show the game to a fiend, I have created a barren warrior with Cleaving weapons up to 4 and some other skills. (heavy armor, bow, repair).
My IQ was 11.
In the chest in my room, I have found the 200gp, the 4 potions and an Unidentified axe !!!! So I could not even use it !!!
There should be either a mechanism to ensure all starting items are identified (they are mine after all

) or a more complex one that would compute the Cleaving weapon skill in order to find out if I know an item or not. With a skill of 4, I would assume I know how to use a standard axe.
Also it would be nice to be able to use the item anyway with penalties instead of preventing to equip it.... what do you think ?
