Bestiary in Book2

Post by Wester Egg »

Hello.

I believe I've seen some screenshots earlier, depicting the bestiary book entry, with an image of some beast and its description. I always loved bestiary journals in rpg games, and I thought it was great that Book2 was going to have one.

And now all I see in the game is short text descriptions for mosters, like this "Damn! Another rat!.."

Where is the bestiary? Were those screenshots just an art, not intended to be the part of the game? =(

These were the monster profiles made last year as a promotion for Book II.

For the most part, encountering a new monster is a trial-and-error process. Save the game, then take it on and find out its strengths and weaknesses.

Oh, no. This is not about strengths and weaknesses at all. What I wanted to say was the fact that the bestiary makes the game somewhat deeper, providing additional information on the world and the characters you encounter.

You know, some people really like to read all this stuff, because it is a part of the story.

And yes, the pictures you provided really are great. Such a pity there is no bestiary with more of those in the game.

Just for the sake of creating some public opinion, I too would like to add that I agree with Wester egg.

Will the bestiary be included with the DVD? I can´t find any information on this, or did I just miss some informational post?

Well keep in mind that you're dealing with an indie developer... Basilisk Games likely doesn't have the budget to pay someone for all of the artwork required to create a complete beastiary.

Now, if you're gonna request such a feature in Book III, you need to get all of your friends, their friends, and their friends' friends to buy at least one copy of Book II, and maybe Book I if they haven't played it yet.

No, I'm serious.

It doesn't have to be expensive. The in-game image, a few words would do it. Spread it in various books through the game ("on genus rattus") and you can skip the image, too (but then you'd need some way to get the name of the monster besides the hit messages)

I would like to see an in-game bestiary as well. The pictures in the examples are great, but would not be necessary. The added flavor is the biggest draw.
