Mass boil buggy?
Mass boil buggy?
I tried mass boil against dwarfs and harpies - and it seem to deal half damage of what it should according to description. While normal boil does full dmg to them. Lvl 6 mass boil doing only 20 dmg on average to them.

That seems about what I remember. You get less damage per target because you are able to get more than one target.
Re: Mass boil buggy?
Well if you mean more targets - less dmg, then no i tried it against single target aswell. According to description mass boil does 6-9 dmg per lvl. Meaning it should do 36-45 dmg at lvl 6.
Re: Mass boil buggy?
Hmm, supernova dealing less damage than it says in description aswell. It says 5-8 dmg per lvl, yet again only 20 dmg on average at lvl 6.
Re: Mass boil buggy?
So no reply if thats description error? bug or some hidden feature with resists?

Re: Mass boil buggy?
Mass Boil and Supernova affects groups of enemies. These spells are very inefficient on just one or two creatures.
To see the true power of the spell, look at the combined TOTAL of all the damage delivered. For example: if you cast Mass Boil near 8 creatures and each receives an average of 15 points of damage, that is 120 total points of damage you've delivered in a single spell!
These spells deliver lesser damage to individual creatures, but when used against groups of enemies they deliver far more cumulative damage per cast.

Errm i do understand that they are supposed to be used against several enemies, im just pointing out that their description clearly says what damage they are supposed to do, and it doesnt correlate with real dmg numbers.
If those numbers are some average then you probably should state that in description, since ive learned those spells based on their description first, and description told me that they do X dmg and when i started using them they do much less then was "promised".

BW -- we know they are good values. The point is that Mystic Hammer states it does 10-15 per level and it does 10-15 per level. Mass Boil states it does 6-9 per level, but it actually does much less than that. It's still a good value in some situations, but the spell description is -not- accurate.

Sorry- misread the post. Too much going on.
Yes, there is a discrepancy. It will be fixed in tomorrow's official 1.02 update.

Re: Mass boil buggy?
I should add that the actual damage delivered for both Supernova and Mass Boil in version 1.02 are actually a bit between what you see and what is quoted in version 1.01.
4 - 6 per level for Supernova (that damage hits non-living objects too)
5 - 7 per level for Mass Boil.
It's was a problem with altering the values in one place, but not in another.
