Four chests in Kuudad sewers (spoilers)

It is so interesting to read the forums and see what different people get stuck on. Well, I'm stuck on something probably pretty easy: the 4 chests in the sewers of Kuudad.

I thought salt might be the answer to "swims in the seas....preserver of flesh", and someone in the forums seemed to suggest a candle was necessary (and yes, I sold mine from the drunks barrel)

Baldly put, what are the 4 items needed?
