List of spells

Hi everyone, I will try to make a list of all the spells in the game. This may be very usefull for people who want to replay this great game and plan their character in advance.

Few important notes:
There are 3 tiers of spells, all of which can be cast at 1-6 lvl to make them more powerfull.
To cast tier 1 spells you need 15 Int for Elemental and 15 Wis for Divine.
To cast tier 2 spells you need 20 Int /or/ 20 Wis. [Elemental / Divine]
To cast tier 3 spells you need 25 Int /or/ Wis. [Elemental / Divine]

To cast tier 1 spells at lvl 1-6 you need 1/3/5/7/9/11 skill points in Elemental /or/ Divine skill.
To cast tier 2 spells at lvl 1-6 you need
To cast tier 3 spells at lvl 1-6 you need

Keep in mind that the max number of spells you can learn is your Int /or/ Wis divided by 2 [correct me if I'm wrong] so It's not really worth it to learn every spell you can get your hands on - just the ones you need.
[If you want to learn more than 12 spells you must increase your Int /or/ Wis]

Mana cost:
Tier 1 spells: 2/4/6/7/8/9
Tier 2 spells: 6/11/16/21/25/29
Tier 3 spells: 10/19/27/35/42/49

Divine:
Tier:1:
- Fleshboil - "A ranged spell which bathes a single target with divine energy, causing blisters and lesions upon exposed flesh. Effect is 2-4 hit points pf Magic damage per casting level."
- Divine Heal -
- Create Food - [A must have spell for any magic user (unless you play the game on very easy mode) and a nice source of income. At lvl 6 you can create dry meat which is worth 15 gold a piece.]
- Lore - [Very usefull spell, saves you money from identification of items at merchants and makes putting skill points in Lore skill pointless if you are a magic user]
- Bless -
- Detox -
- Cat's Eyes -
- Entangle -
- Leatherskin - [Small note: you cannot have both Leatherskin & Stoneskin spells active at the same time]
Tier 2:
- Stoneskin - [Small note: you cannot have both Leatherskin & Stoneskin spells active at the same time]
- Cure Ailments -
- Turn Undead -
Tier 3:
- Summon Monster - [Place description from the game here]
1. Catacomb Rat
2. Crimson Dragonell
3. Black Mold
4. Bonebiter
5. Phase Hunter
6. Red Wolf
[This is an interesting spell - you can summon all 6 animals [1 of each spell lvl] and kill them for exp. points [10+25+40+60+125+100=360] and they drop items. (meat, skin) You can also keep summoning the same animal untill you run out of mana, camp to regenerate, kill them, repeat.
Summoned monsters do not fight back]
- Dehex - [Place description from the game here]

Elemental:
Tier 1:
- Fire Dart - "Causes a searing hot ember to shoot from the caster's hands towards the target. Effect is 2-4 hit points of fire damage per casting level."
- Draw Water - [Another must have along with Create Food]
- Gravedigger's Flame -
- Sparkling Wonder -
- Predator Sight -
- Reveal Map -
Tier 2:
- Lockmelt - [Must have if you don't want to bother with destroying every chest you come across. Makes the Lockpicking skill pointless and saves you
the money on buying lockpicks.]
Tier 3:
- Portal - [A usefull spell for traveling between Edon & Picaroon Isle without having to pay 350+400gold each time]
- Invisibility -

Damn I just realised that BasiliskWrangler already made a very nice spell list of Eshalon Book I
I shall try to post only the new spells and my tips when I find time.

Do you get XP for using Lockmelt? If not, it doesn't make the Pick Locks skill pointless.

No XP for lockmelt or trapkill. Also a level 10 difficulty lock can't be opened with lockmelt at level 6.

Any idea on roughly how much Open Locks is needed to open a level 10 difficulty lock?

I'm pretty sure you can pick a level 10 lock with a picklocks skill of 1, but you might be there awhile ;)

..and break a lot of picks..unless you do the save, try, reload, try...method. :wink:

How many lock picks do you have? At Pick Locks level 12 you have about a 6% chance depending upon you dexterity. So Pick Locks level 15 gives a decent chance.

Lock picking rule:

Chance to pick% = pick locks skill level * 3 + dex/3 + 50 - Lock Rating * 10

most BOOK II spells are the same as BOOK I, except a few changes:
New spells:
1. Draw Water
2. Create Food
3. Protection From Curses
4. Ice Lance
5. Summon Beast
6. Abyssal Freeze (from Deep Freeze)
7. Cure Ailments (from Cure Disease)
8. Mystic Hammer(from Smite)
9. Dense Nimbus (from Air Shield)

Changes:
Most spell damage boosted, spell mana cost reduced at higher level, more effective damage per mana for higher level spells.

The leading "-" is a typo, right?

So, with Pick Locks 10 and 30 Dex, there is a 80% chance to pick a Rating 1 lock and a -10% chance to pick a Rating 10 lock?

Do picks always break when you fail?

Picks have a chance of breaking, but don't always.

This spell has been renamed to Dense Nimbus. If I remember correctly, you get 40 or 50% chance of not getting hit by missile weapon like an arrow. For every level you put into it you get another 10% coverage. Still handy spell but you do get hit more often. than in book 1

"Air Shield" Just had the name changed to "Dense Nimbus" and as DL said some attacks do get through. Great spell to counter thorny problems..

Yeah, the leading "-" is a typo, i edited the original post to correct it, thanks.

You do not always break the pick when you fail, the exact rule is hard to see as no in game rate are shown, but from my experience during lock picking, the higher level lock or the lower level success chance, your picks will break more often. 1% pick rate on a level 10 lock will always make your pick break.
So i guess maybe:
pick break rate = 1 - pick lock chance
or
pick break rate = 10 * lock rating
(100% break for level 10 lock if you fail?)

Anyway, doesn't matter much as picks are easy to buy from shop.

For Air Shield, you are right, rank 6 to give you 90% chance is still powerful, just not as powerful as the godly invisible spell :mrgreen:

Also, the spell casting level required for each skill level(divine/element) is same as book1:
Tier 1 spells = 1 + 2 * (casting level - 1)
Tier 2 spells = 5 + 3 * (casting level - 1)
Tier 3 spells = 11 + 4 * (casting level - 1)

On the same note, is there any item that can't be identified with the Lore spell, or any trap that can't be destroyed with Trapkill?

OK, Protection From Curses is not in okashii's original list - I assume this is a Healer/Divination spell? And is it a Tier One, Tier Two, or Tier Three spell? TIA.

(And like the Brewmaster's Ring, I've never set eyes on a Protection From Curses spell scroll yet! And I only just saw a Create Food spell scroll for the first time down on Picaroon Isle a few hours ago! :) )
