Imbuing the Warmoth bow
I'm a little confused about what I can do with the Warmoth bow in terms of imbuing it. It already has +3 bow and +1 poison, so does that mean that I can only add 1 more enhancement? I can't put both to hit and damage enhancements on it? I've tried and it blows up! This wouldn't be a bug, would it?

I always sold this bow and never paid any attention.Buckets wrote:I'm a little confused about what I can do with the Warmoth bow in terms of imbuing it. It doesn't have +3 to hit; it has +3 bow. That adds +3 to my bow skill level. So I was still hoping I could add a to hit bonus and a damage bonus. Guess not...

Oh, I misunderstood. You, I think, can imbue it with either to hit or damage, but if it won't let you. Guess not. Shrug. Perhaps, it's because it is 'named'?Buckets wrote:It doesn't have +3 to hit; it has +3 bow. That adds +3 to my bow skill level. So I was still hoping I could add a to hit bonus and a damage bonus. Re: Imbuing the Warmoth bow
I thought that in one of your earlier posts, you established the rule for enchanting, which I've found to be accurate. An item can have only 3 enchantments, regardless of which types. Since the bow already has 2, you can add only one more. You can do either +3 to hit, or +3 damage, but not both. Don't you wish this bow doesn't have +1 poison?Dragonlady wrote: Oh, I misunderstood. Re: Imbuing the Warmoth bow
Yeah, it does not seem well planned that the named weapons -- something that is typically reserved for special, powerful items -- are almost all weaker than standard variants due to their inability to be imbued properly.

Some of them have decent bonuses especially the ones later in the game. A few let you improve them if you have enough alchemy.
Re: Imbuing the Warmoth bow
Right, but the point is that a nonmagical melee weapon, you can always enchant +3 to hit, +3 to damage, +3 bonus damage. If a named weapon already has, say, +2 to damage and +1 poison damage, you can enchant +3 to hit but that's it. Right?

Re: Imbuing the Warmoth bow
Right, but Warmoth is +3 bows which is a bit better since it speeds up getting the feat and increases both damage and to hit. You can tack on another +3 to hit or better +3 damage.
Re: Imbuing the Warmoth bow
Don't forget that Warmoth is very light compared to the +3 bows you can buy at Port Kruudad, so you can cast spells while you have it equiped.
What really disappoints me is that you cannot enchant arrows
[I'm guessing it is because of balance issues]

Re: Imbuing the Warmoth bow
In this particular case, yeah, I guess the Warmoth is still useful -- just because the feat for Bows is so fantastic. However, even if you enchant for damage, you are still getting a total of +4 bonus damage, +1 to +2 regular damage (half as damaging, remember) and +1 to +2 to hit. With a regular bow you'd get +6 bonus damage and +3 to hit.
I may have overestimated the number of them... But the Hexedge, Splitsunder, and Gloomwrought at least appear to be pretty bad.

You can enchant arrows, but you have to do it one arrow at a time and ingredients are rare for that. When I was testing alchemy recipes I used to do it on thrown weapons.okashii wrote: What really disappoints me is that you cannot enchant arrows![]()
Re: Imbuing the Warmoth bow
Yes it works on thrown weapons but it didn't work at all for me with 14 alchemy. [which is enough to put +2 on a thrown weapon]
I just get a message that I cannot imbue this item [tested on normal and milrith arrows]
