Integrated Graphics GMA 4500m

Post by Greesha »

I am thinking about getting a new laptop. Has anybody had any luck running Eschalon smoothly on an 4500m chipset. I love this game too much not to be able to play it on my laptop.

Intel gma = not a good idea. It is not friendly with Eschalon...

In heavily forested areas, the graphics slow down a bit, but it is absolutely playable. There is also an option to use lower-res graphics that can speed things up a bit. In windowed direct-x mode, there is a hex edit hack that can speed up the game.

For my needs, the many pro's of my specific laptop/tablet far outweighed the integrated graphics, but I'm not a gamer. Long battery life, lightweight, outdoor daylight viewable screen, and multi-touch screen (stylus and multiple fingers) were my driving factors. I can also add an external video card through the ExpressCard port and drive an external monitor at high frame rate if need be.

What laptop are you considering? I'm running the Dell XT2.

Book 2 runs beautifully on my now somewhat old GMA 950 card. Book 1 had problems with it, but book 2 doesn't.
