Performance rating on options screen

Post by Loriac »

Just downloaded the demo and saw this rating in the options screen. Can anyone tell me what numbers I should be seeing here? I am currently running the demo on an i540 laptop with hybrid intel / nvidia 330m graphics and native resolution of 1600x900 (Windows 7 64bit professional) and I'm seeing red numbers in the full screen mode whether I'm running on dedicated or intel graphics.

Using DX 9 I get the following results:

In fullscreen mode, I see ~15 on 330m, which goes up to ~25 if I use intel graphics. In windowed mode the 330m delivers ~2-4 whilst the intel graphics show as ~15

These ratings (based on the colors assigned to them) seem high. What do the ratings mean in practice? Even running on intel graphics with a rating of 25 the graphics don't seem slow as such, so I was wondering if the performance rating is correctly reporting what it should be.

Also, what is the game loading up when a save game is loaded? My laptop is using an ssd drive setup, and I'm seeing several seconds needed to load a game which seems somewhat long.

The lowest number is best, but as long as it stays in the 20s you shouldn't have too noticeable a lag when playing. There are some places where it will get worse when there are lots of NPCs or in the forests.

I have a really long load time too. It's reloading three files that contain the map, information about the NPCs and monsters, and the minimap that appears in the upper right corner.

On my notebook, I have a standard green 8 for performance, windowed. Loading time is about 5-7-10 sec.
