Petrified wood

Post by SopuliApina »

Any way to reobtain the petrified wood from those goliaths? I managed to sell it to some vendor and therefore can't finish the quest

The easiest way would be to save to a new slot and then delete the three files for that map section. This will allow you to redo that map section and should reset that borehead.

Heh, yeah, on my first playthrough I ended up selling the Adamantium Ore before I even knew it was a quest item. The sadness! :) Without resorting to a savegame hack like Randomizer suggested, your char won't be able to finish that quest.

Would be nice to see quest items tagges as "Special" category or something like that, would prevent from selling those

Yeah, though of course this way it's more realistic. My character wouldn't Just Know that he shouldn't sell a nice lucrative chunk of ore that he found deep underground, etc.

Yep might be more realistic now, maybe they could add a difficulty setting for it? I'd rather just see the category changed, if your character knows an item called adamantium bar or petrified wood, he might also know that it's not common miscelaneous junk.

IMHO the best solution for this would be as follows:

The vendor, whom you sold it to, keeps the item in his inventory (which otherwise changes regularly). So you can buy it back later.

This ways you get punished but are not lost.

FTR, Soldak's Din's Curse has something like this, where a couple of the vendor slots are "reserved" for "Held Items" (I guess, kind of like a 'pawn shop').

So, it would be cool if BW could implement something like that for Book III.

You won't be able to fulfill a couple of quests, but you'll still be able to finish the game with no problems (just minus the XP/gold you would have gotten from completing the quests). (And actually I'm not sure if the arrow is even necessary for quest completion.)

If you don't have the arrow on you it doesn't matter if you took the quest. I've had a few places where I had to go back to retrieve an item that I left behind for weight considerations. I just got back the soulpiercing arrow before the inventory reset.

i agree about calling certain items 'special' because once they are lost , you've advanced so far that it becomes impossible to retrieve them, thus quests lost, but if the forums were'nt here we'd be pretty lost too.
