What do you need to get in and is it worth it, Any Quest out of the inn

Does seem to be a bit of a wasted space.
Perhaps if it had been included in a side quest, where you had to obtain/nick some item from say, the University/Library place, and got access to a better quality inn, or a merchant stocking less common items, like skill books?

..or track down a student who left with a precious book from the library and you have to return it and wearing the robe of the student gets you perks from the innkeeper? Like, formula that uses Toadis Pollen in a potion
