Talushorn doors
Talushorn doors
On Level 3 of Talushorn there's a room with 8 levers. After I fought the dragonels and made my way to the fourth level, I realized i kinda' need to go back to a city and buy some stuff. Only the door of the room with the 8 levers is closed. Is there a way to open that door so i can go back?

Re: Talushorn doors
That would be a good idea. I managed to finish the game but I wanted to do it in grand style (aka. kill everything that moves in Talushorn) and I couldn't do that because of those gates.

BW's view during beta testing was once you entered Talushorn you were to blast through to the ending without going back for more supplies or to sell off loot.

Yes, and as I recall, there is a warning (sign?) or statement that it is a one way trip. I kinda expected to die at the end when the two stones were supposed to be destroyed...Randomizer wrote:BW's view during beta testing was once you entered Talushorn you were to blast through to the ending without going back for more supplies or to sell off loot.

I am not opposed to allowing that gate to reopen after you trigger the release switch.

Re: Talushorn doors
I've been through this game almost to the tower so many times!
In the tower only twice. What I recollect is either something in the 'script' window or a sign just before going up to level 2. I'll have to keep an eye out next time I get there. and post pic of it. When I read it, I figured okay..they didn't expect me to come back from last mission (book 1) and now they don't believe I'll get away from this one...how little humans know.
I'm beginning to suspect character is a half breed human/orakur mix.

Re: Talushorn doors
There is a plaque on the wall just before the gate, but alas, I didn't see it.
I agree there should be some way to leave or at least a very obvious warning that this is a point of no return. It' a perfect storm of bad circumstances for my game, since I failed to notice the plaque and I also overwrote my saved games from before that point (I keep 5+ saves, but managed to overwrite all of them before that point while experimenting with levelling and alchemy). So I can't even go back and replay it.

If you've got some other buff potions (Ogres, Nimbleness, Invis, Haste, Stoneskin), you should be fine. I had similar stats to yours when I went through the levels, but I did have some spells available and some of the potions I mentioned above. I didn't need to use too many heals.

I play a hardcore and specially save/load only in cities.Gorgon Rider wrote:If you've got some other buff potions (Ogres, Nimbleness, Invis, Haste, Stoneskin), you should be fine. I adhere old school and specially I use only treatment bottles on system "kick and heal"
I have 52 Healing Elixir 3 And 34 healing elixir 2 and 0 gold. And if I there die, to game over. I will begin game at first.
p.s. I consider the best RPG all times and the people it DROD: RPG (system RPG over RPG)
There it is possible to pass half of game and only then to understand that all it is spoilt and to begin game now. It is ingenious game. What to understand that such system "rpg over rpg" - it is necessary to pass Drod:rpg or at least to reach an ending. And I very much would want that such system was used and in the book 3
System RPG over RPG very difficult - it would be necessary to be the genius that it to think over

Re: Talushorn doors
Not sure if I understand you here, but if you're implying that you'd like Book III to be designed so that if you make the 'wrong' decision early in the game (either a roleplaying choice or a character build choice) that you'll find out far later that you can't finish the game, I have to vehemently disagree. That does not equal fun to me. I'm all for a game being difficult but not to the degree where you'd have to start over after playing half the game just because you didn't do something in exactly one specific manner.xart2k wrote:

To be fair, DROD RPG is a puzzle game, not an RPG. It's all completely deterministic and you don't "guide" your character development - you follow the development laid down by the level designer. It's a great game, but poorly named.

Ah, I see.
Looking over his post again, I believe he's playing in what's commonly considered 'hardcore' mode where if the character dies, you start anew. Not my cup of tea, but many people like that type of challenge. I'm not sure I see the point, if you're just going to carry stacks of dozens of healing potions.

I have died. In a cage with Ghorr healing elixir 2 are useless.
56 healing elixir 3 it is not enough, still would like 10-20.
Very big difference of parity ToHit. It is a lot of misses. Game over!

You really played Drod: RPG? Or it is simply acquainted is game?
Simply if there you will not get on level 8 - not probably to understand that means RPG over RPG!!! You personally become RPG and play RPG. Your level of the person and mind shakes and grows during that as you play RPG! If you have reached level 8 - you mean is pumped personally over on level 8.
Therefore also it is changed on set of times. You can reach level 7 without problems. But what to pass to level 8 you it you will understand only at level 7 and it will be necessary to change all game. But only having got on level 8 the understanding comes that is "RPG over RPG". Because all it was a trap..
