Just bought game, need character advice

Post by BumpkinPie »

So I'm set on going through as a caster on my first run. In my last thread I learned not to waste skills on meditation, now I need a little more advice.

I like lots of skills, like Foraging, alchemy, spot hidden and lore to compliment the essential Elemental and Lock Pick. Is it better to focus on only a couple skills early or is it wise to invest in a large spectrum of skills to balance my character?

Please don't troll me on this one!

I'd concentrate on a few and top the others up with money when you get to the places where you can buy them (like Foraging and Alchemy).

You can buy skills!? Cool, didn't know that. Thanks, I guess I'll just crank up elemental magik, get lock pick, and wing the rest? Hmmmm...

I usually add Light Armor to the mix you've got (just in case!), but what you're doing should do the trick.

But, yeah - you can pick up Forage pretty early, if you like. And you can get Repair from the gloves (and a bit of inventory luck from the merchants), so you should be good...

It takes a long time until you can train in lock picking skill, but as a mage you can get lock melt that does the same thing without getting experience.

It is better to concentrate on a few skills to get more out of them. Alchemy is better later in the game after you have had time to get ingredients from foraging skill.
