Spoilers: Lorewitch Tower?

Post by Warmskin »

Spoilers ahead:

If I accepted the quest from Erubor to seek the assitance of the mages at Lorewitch Tower, *must* I complete that quest? Reason I ask - I'm finding this quest of flipping levers in the right order extremely tedious, and the game for the first time is not fun for me. Now, I admit to being pretty lousy at puzzles in general (although I *did* solve the 'double-decker bridge' puzzle in Dragon Age without any help). So, does it matter if I accepted the quest or not? I would have to replay several hours to get back to where I made the decision (including killing the 'main' guy in the thief dungeon - forgot his name). I don't mind having an open quest not finished on my 'quest' screen when I finish the game, I just want to *finish the game*. So, absent someone having a complete walk-thru for Lorewitch, what do I do? Go back several hours or just ignore it? I know I'd be missing a part of the game, but I can live with that... Thanks.

Nope, that quest is totally optional.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure this has been posted elsewhere, but here's the solution I had written down when I solved it "correctly" for the first time (without liberal use of the Portal spell)... If you consider the levers to be numbered like so:
Numbered Lorewitch Levers
Numbered Lorewitch Levers
lorewitch.png (13.25 KiB) Viewed 6189 times
... you can open the gate by flipping: 1, 2, 1, 4, and then 3.

Portal spell? Brilliant!

And I don't think Charma would mind. It is a mage's guild after all.

Portal is my best friend. :)

Of course in my case it kind of backfired, because I was able to open the gates in such a way that I locked myself out of the tower for the rest of the game. I had gone there before I had gotten the quest from the Guild, so I had to do a little hacking in order to get back in to the tower. See what trouble mischievous mages can get into? I tell you, kids these days...

(On my first playthrough, I actually thought that it was constructed in such a way that you HAD to use Portal to get in, thus making it some kind of mage-only area. It wasn't until I got the quest from the Guild later in the game that I realized that wasn't the case.)

Thanks for the quick responses... No, I don't actually have the Portal spell yet, so maybe I'll try again using your numbered levers map. Is there going to be more of the same on the other levels of the tower? Thanks again!

No, but there's a maze on the second level.
