The problem with giving a rainy day item to someone like me is that I never think the day is rainy enough and I ended up finishing the game without using it at all :/

Same here.

I'm a packrat as well, so couple that with those 'not quite rainy enough' days and I usually end any game I play with a ton of unused items/materials.

I used my wand several times, and each time it recharged to give my 8 shots. I just kept on using it and it kept recharging. :P

I wonder if this might be a bug. I've noticed that my lanterns get "repaired" overnight... Are you playing the Mac version?

No. Windows V1.03. My lanterns recharge at night also, as long as they are not in use.

Lol... that's awesome if you can "repair" the wand. I never even tried that. I just saved it for the end fight. In my experience, the wand is about as good as "Extreme Focus" with a good bow and arrow. Much like the weapon feat, it is an auto-hit.
I listen,
I laugh,
I think for a while
As I sit in the dark
And smile.

FWIW, I found the wand useful in the final 'Boss' fight (it's also useful if you want to go for the Saboteur ending).

Also, my wand did not seem to recharge with camping/Repairing AFAICT - I'm using the Mac version, so maybe it's a WIN version bug?...

i recharge the wand to 8 in under 5 seconds of rest and at one point i had it at 9 so it could possibly recharge more, its an excellent weapon, town guards 3 hits taurex 2, best weapon i've had so far

Okay, I just tested the Wand. It is repaired along with your other equipment if you have the skill Repair. Might be a bit of an exploit.

Also, would it disqualify you from playing as a straight Mage if you used it? Probably so - if you are a purist......

Yeah I can confirm the wand is repaired when you rest but only if you are wielding it when you rest, at least that's how it works in my case. This is with 1.04c on Linux so I don't think it's OS specific. Maybe the character switches out the regular alkaline batteries in the wand with rechargeable ones, then at night he (or she) recharges the batteries using one of the many conveniently located power outlets scattered all around Eschalon? Not only is the character a great hero trying to save the world from a host of hostile creatures and helping the little man, he's also being environmentally conscious by using rechargeable batteries instead of disposable ones.

It's Moon powered! It has a lunar cell panel. You just need the repair skill to understand how to set up the panel.
