Any update on sales, possible expansion or Book III?
Re: Any update on sales, possible expansion or Book III?
You sir, are a glutton for punishment! I'm going to play Book I again. After that I may come back and finish up the mage that played the 16 quests, all at level 1. It'll be nice having so much mana at level 8. Of course, I've got to take him back for all the loot first

Sales are holding steady. It also looks like Steam is finally preparing to launch Book II, which will be a big help. Steam represents almost 1/4 of all of Book 1 sales, so it was critical that we get Book II on there.Jedi_Learner wrote:I know, I know, a full month hasn't passed but how is it looking?
So, now our focus is on getting the Book II expansion out. Nothing on Book III starts until after that because Book III will be made off of the Book II 1.05 branch.
This is not a formal announcement of Book III, but I am confident that we will be able to see the trilogy through to the end. Meanwhile, deep in the labs, a new engine and RPG system is brewing....

A new engine? Such things scares me.BasiliskWrangler wrote:[...]

Would this be the first person Shining in the Darkness style sci-fi party-based RPG engine?
For some reason when you mentioned that once, Shining in the Darkness is the type of first person engine that popped into my head. Such an obscure game for me to recall of when there are more obvious games I could have thought of. At least I think it was you that said you were working on such a thing...
I haven't played a party-based sci-fi RPG since Wizardry 7, so I hope this is the post Book III project you're hinting at.
PS I must have checked Steam's top sellers 8 times today hoping Book II would crack the list, but that probably wasn't a realistic goal. I just hope the sales are comparable to Book 1 on Steam.

Omg, I hope your game and company bloom. They are great. I bought both off steam just randomly and I love them.
I would love to see even better graphics/new engine. Then I am sure you could pull off some more awards easily, and draw great attention. Perhaps something even Ultima 8ish in looks!.... But gameplay is such a strength with Eschalon, it should never be compromised.
I feel like this is a jewel waiting to be discovered. I will buy every game you make as long as they download nicely off steam.
I don't think a donation thingy is a good idea for a professional company. Basilisk has already proven itself.
I would rather see a nice continuation of "books" rather than patching on add-ons... You have a really 'neat' and original theme going already, to a stranger it invites you in because "books" feel like a legacy and is totally cool. Add-ons might spoil the overall continuity, flavour, and cred that I feel has been established.
Loving it, keep em coming

That's where all the level 15 characters went to play. But it hasn't go to the point where anyone else gets to play there.Jedi_Learner wrote:How soon?BasiliskGames wrote:Working on the Book II add-on. Announcement soon! And how are sales of Book II doing, especially on Steam?

Hearing that BW thinks he can see a Book III in our future is wonderful news!

Re: Any update on sales, possible expansion or Book III?
Steam has been good for us, nearly doubling the sales we made on our own. It was very important to get our game up on Steam, so I thank all the fans who pushed for it. The emails you sent to them and posts you made on Steam's forums made all the difference! Thank you!Jedi_Learner wrote:How soon?BasiliskGames wrote:Working on the Book II add-on. The add-on is coming along nicely- I am deciding how much info to reveal now and how much to hold back for the next game. I took about a week off to see my new niece in Chicago, and then had to spend some time getting caught up on business issues (email, bills, promotional stuff). I will get back into "creation mode" by Monday.

oops. I read basilisk's join date july 6 2006 and my brain thought
a) it said jul 6 2010
b) that it was not his join date but date of post.
my bad.
