You could buy Burglar's Gloves (Pick locks +2) and lots of lock picks to get through that first door.

You should be more concerned about the traps since you can't use missile weapons to trigger floor traps.

Or use lots of powderkegs to blow the sucker up.

I had no idea ranged weapons could be used to set off floor traps.

I'm fine throwing things; do those work (like darts etc...?)

The barrels had occurred to me, too. I will take your advice and start collecting them. I tried to find gloves already, but no luck.

You CAN'T set off floor traps with ranged weapons. Only by putting something on them (and the only thing you can actively put down is a powder keg, which will set off the trap but may have other adverse effects--trust me on this--though perhaps on the gas and acid traps it won't be a problem; just save first). Unfortunately, the foraging bags from camping will never appear on a space with an active trap.

You can also just put on a Brawler's Ring and pound down any annoying doors in your way. It takes time, but it works.

Ooh unarmed combat! Now I KNOW I saw a ring for that somewhere on my journeys.

Zeblin (or Zeblo or whatever your name is Mr. Master Assassin!) I'm on my way!!!

If you can't find the ring, you can often find the book in Port K. A Bar Brawler's Guide. One level in Unarmed Combat will let you pound through most anything given time, and won't wear down your weapon.

Oh, and to update my earlier thought, nope, gas traps also make the kegs go boom. ;-)

Hehe, yeah I tried a keg at one point and exploded myself into the next century. Pretty exciting stuff!!!

I'm looking forward first to upping my Hide in Shadows ability, as well as Move Silently (I'll check the stats page to find the exact numbers).

I think Alchemy is the next best thing for me?

Alchemy goes well with any build, as long as you also get Foraging. Attributes have no apparent effect on either skill, which means they're equally good for anybody.

How high you want to take it depends on whether you want to be able to imbue your weapons and armour with the best bonuses, but a few potions here and there come in handy for almost anyone.

The best armor/weapon bonuses are exactly what I'm looking for. I've heard lvl 25 is required for that, is that true in alchemy?

Level 22, but you can pick up two Brewmaster's Rings, which are +2 Alchemy each, so you only need to get to level 18 yourself (10 of which you can get from the trainer and book).
