Just to say "Hey I'm an idiot", let me suggest to any who are about to embark into the Dwarevn mine, that you heed the warning at the entrance, and BE PREPARED.
Namely, preparation in the form of a light source, which I did not have upon my descent except for 2 torches, and you can imagine how long those lasted.
Amazingly, I got the Crux, and made it out. I was even able to punch my way through all the Dwarf Lord safe-doors and loot their goodies before leaving (though I had to leave some of the really heavy armor in the treasure chests to collect later).

Re: Dwarven mine (SPOILER)
What was your no light source strategy? Cartography? Cranking the brightness way up?
I've yet to make it through a real "no magic" game - Gravedigger's Flame/Cat's Eyes are just too tempting.

I did it when I played for my "True Warrior" challenge game - meant no spells/magic, and no Alchemy (bought/found potions are OK though).SpottedShroom wrote:What was your no light source strategy? Cartography? Cranking the brightness way up?

Anyway, it's the only game I've played in either Book I or II where I made extensive use of a Lantern - that's how I got through Hammerlorne.

I wish I had a lantern
I bumped into walls and relied on level 1 cartography. Overall, I'd say I advanced at a glacial pace.
