I just started playing this game, but I was wondering if there are two-handed swords available?
I like the samurai archetype -- big damage/big offense to make up for limited defense.
Would such a character work in this game?
Two-handed swords?
Re: Two-handed swords?
The game doesn't have a concept of a "two-handed sword," per se - you'll always be able to, for instance, use a shield or torch, etc, while wielding any sword in the game. There are certainly powerful swords available, of course.
You may encounter some problems fending off ranged attacks if you don't invest in some defensive skills as well... Especially near the endgame there will be some pretty powerful ranged attacks being thrown your way which would be difficult to deal with, if you hadn't invested much into defensive skills (or armor, etc).

That's too bad... maybe in Book III there'll be a two-hand sword distinction. And some feats to go along with it... like a burst of speed or dodge bonus after each kill with the sword.
Re: Two-handed swords?
Actually, there are some swords in the game that are labeled as 'two-handed.' But you can still use them in one hand. This actually had me confused at first. I was playing a sword and shield type, found a sword better than my own that was labeled as a 'two-handed' sword and came very close to just selling it, thinking I couldn't use it. Luckily, it dawned on me that 'two-handed' might just be flavor text, so I tried equipping it and it worked.

Yeah, hopefully in Book III it won't just be "flavor" text and you will have a wider array of sub-class variants.Arkos wrote:Actually, there are some swords in the game that are labeled as 'two-handed.'
