Rogue-like characters broken towards the end of game?
Rogue-like characters broken towards the end of game?
Hey... I have played through Book II once and really enjoyed the game, however, I had trouble playing a rogue-like character. I pumped up Piercing, Dexterity and Speed and still by the end of the game, my typical hit was like 30% while my opponents averaged around 75%. I put some points into light armor and bought the best I could afford. I had to cheat save most of the end content just to finish the game... which dampened my enjoyment quite a bit. I'd hate to see how difficult it would be to hit with a character that wasn't as strongly melee built. Is it just me, or is the end content unfairly difficult?

It depends how you built the character, actually. How high was your Piercing weapon skill? What else did you have? Did you make judicious use of potions and thrown flasks?
Understand that this game does NOT scale the opponents according to your character's class or level, so if you build it wrong, you will get your ass handed to you.

It's possible to build a character in (almost) any style to be good enough to finish the game easily. For non-mages, pumping weapon skills exclusively for a while is a good idea. You can also make a broken-good rogue character by getting a high enough Hide in Shadows - no one will be able to see you, even in the open in broad daylight.

Most of your to hit comes from piercing weapon skill and you should have that near 40 by the endgame. Using the feat helps for the double strike. I played a rogue with piercing weapons without trouble. I don't remember putting much into speed and dexterity above 25.
