Sorry for sleeping in everyone...
For those who couln't figure out from the little hint I left, I decided to let the prize results be determined in an Unreal Tournament botmatch. I assigned the prizes as such:
1st Place - The Humble Indie Bundle
2nd Place - Minecraft
3rd Place - World of Goo & Trine
4th Place - World of Goo
The placings were slightly weighted by preference (hence Minecraft being placed above the "2-pack" of W & T), but since the results would still be random it was acceptable.
It was a brutal match, but the results are in:
1st Place: Kreador Freeaxe
2nd Place: fudgemaster
3rd Place: Sir Funk
4th Place: ManusDei
It was the first time I've ever taken the time to watch bots battle it out (or record a timedemo, for that matter 0_o). You could see some glaring issues with the pathing AI: I watched one bot run around in circles, trying to decide between picking up some health or joining a battle in progress (the desire for health eventually one over), and at one point another just voluntarily jumped into the void, apparently deciding suicide was the better option. Granted it's an almost 12 year old game, but it still makes me appreciate when a developer can "Get it right" on that sort of thing.
I was going to type up some sort of amusing commentary, but I think the results waited long enough. XD
Congrats to the winners, and the not-winners will move on to the next round!
