What's best Fire/Ice/Damage/Poison?
What's best Fire/Ice/Damage/Poison?
I just killed Sparrow and got myself her base damage 7 bow and I want to imbue it. I just don't know what's the best thing to go for. Does fire or ice do anything special or is it basically the same as imbuing for raw damage? Also how useful is poison in the long term?
Re: What's best Fire/Ice/Damage/Poison?
Poison is great for doing damage overtime and prevent mobs from regenerating too much HP.
Imbuing raw damage is more so recommended because mobs also have resistances. If they have a Damage Reduction, it wont matter if you hit for 20+3 or 17+3, the DR of the mob will always stay the same. However if they have high elemental resist the damage wont go through. But,... they have nicer effects

Every item can be imbued with three bonuses, so you can add to-hit, damage, and any of the specials. Poison tends to not last all that long, no matter how much you poison the opponent. I've always been disappointed by it personally. I think ice is more helpful late in the game when you go to the south. Fire is more helpful when dealing with the Mire Trolls.

Thanks, I think I'll go with to hit, damage and Ice then. Always liked ice elemental weapons in video games.

For bows, I like to imbue damage, fire, and ice. To-hit just isn't that helpful when you're using the always-hits feat for most of your attacks.

FWIW, I think the deficiencies with Poison have be mostly dealt with in v1.05 of Book II.Kreador Freeaxe wrote:...Poison tends to not last all that long, no matter how much you poison the opponent. I've always been disappointed by it personally.
I haven't had a chance to play much (OK, well, any...) since before Christmas, so I have not had a chance to extensively "test" Poison Damage, but when I was playing v1.05 back before X-Mas it seemed that Poison was now "stackable" in terms of both Damage delivery and Poison duration (e.g. when my character was Poisoned, it became a lot harder to simply "camp it off").
So, while I think Poison wouldn't have been worth it as the third weapon Imbuing choice pre-v1.05, it may actually be a decent choice with v1.05.

When you get poisoned, yes, but it seems to me (also not with extensive testing) that despite now saying that the opponent has been more severely poisoned, after three points of damage over time, they are cured.IJBall wrote:FWIW, I think the deficiencies with Poison have be mostly dealt with in v1.05 of Book II.Kreador Freeaxe wrote:...Poison tends to not last all that long, no matter how much you poison the opponent.
