It wasn't that they resembled them physically, but that their runes were similar. Also both seem to be underground in their lifestyles.

Actually, at least a 'kinship' between The Orakur and Dwarves has already been implied - check out this historical timeline divined from Book I:

409 - First reports of the Orakur in Loneloft.

419 - Skirmishes with Orakur arise over mining.

423 - The Plague Wars break out with the Orakur. Dwarves refuse to fight, and leave Thaermore, making Thaermore a region predominated by Men.

435 - Marr elected first Chancellor of Thaermore. Commonwealth Guard established; founding of Commonwealth Guard helps to turn the tide in the war against the Orakur.

444 - Orakur defeated and driven underground. Chancellor Marr declares victory. Relations between Men and Dwarves suffer because of war.

I mean, I suppose relations with the Dwarves suffered because The Orakur started displacing some Dwarves from underground. But I always read this sequence of events as evidence that The Orakur and Dwarves were allied.

However, I will note something else BW said in that thread:

This quote from BW would seem to support the "Sci-Fi" interpretation of The Orakur's origin.

I wanted to bump this post with some thoughts from my play thru I mentioned earlier. This Circ 300 line is got to be the Orakur arrival. However, as I mentioned we have details from Book II that still lead to them be terestrial not extra-terestrial. The captured Orakur does not say space or stars at all. He specifically says heaven and ether. There is also the picture which shows a strange city in the clouds. The machines were powered by magic as was indicated in the journal pages. I am going to run a play through and look at every bit of text I can to compile more clues. What do you guys think of this?

Can this information be found in Book I or II? I don't remember. According to Korren this is around the time Pontum Oblivitis, founder of Crius Vindica, swears an oath to prevent the unity of the Crux to some shadowy being.

I am not sure if this information is actually in the game anywhere. It is in the Book I forum in the time line thread and is a direct excerpt from information supplied by BW for that thread.

I have not had the opportunity to start my play thru with looking at all the dialogue for the Orakur but should be starting that game soon.
