Is anyone here getting "Borderlands 2"

Post by BasiliskWrangler »

Even though most of you are traditional RPG enthusiasts, I was curious if anyone was picking up Borderlands 2 today. I might, but I didn't want to spend $60 until I read some positive reviews from people I trust.

For those who don't know, Borderlands 2 is a post-apocalyptic first-person shooter. Not really an RPG by our standards, but there are definately RPG elements in it.

Excuse me BW, but you are not allowed to do anything but slave over Book III. Fifty lashes with a wet noodle for even thinking about taking an hour off!

I play the first one and that makes the second one an instabuy for me.

although i have zero cash at the moment so it has to wait for at least a week for me.

Ive got at least half a dozen to a dozen and a half friends playing it right now.

If its even close to the first one, im sure itll be good.

No, I usually hate fps. There would have to be a lot of RPG elements in it to interest me. But if you do buy it please let us know what you think, especially about the RPG parts.

I haven't played a console game in 5 years, not likely to change.

You know, it is kind of "consoley" but not too bad. I loathe consoles too, but this feels like a decent PC game.

...and the RPG elements are light, but a nice touch. It really feels like a lighter version of Fallout 3.

Its only a console game if you buy it on a console, which id never to to ANY fps.

Its not that I hate console. Its moreso that there are no large quantity of games coming out on a console for me to play. For example, if I was to purchase a ps3 and not play computer games, Id lose the following games and series that I normally play-

Avadon series

Avernum series

Geneforge series

Eschalon series

Knights of the chalice and anything from heroic fantasy games

The quest and expansion packs

Any games that might come out on good old games (err..like 50 games at least)

If at any time I decide to purchase a console, I have to compete with all that and likely won't find more than 2 or 3 games that i'll play which just isn't worth it.

Its not that the games aren't good, its just that I'm old school and very picky with what I like. To answer which game I would probably play-most-likely Fallout New Vegas as I heard it was made by the original creators of fallout which might just offset the fps.

and i am trying to figure out what this has to do with borderlands 2? Its not just a ps3 game and thats what it sounds like from your posts you think.

Or am i just not reading it right?

I personally have a ps3 but hardly ever buy a console game as i play on my pc much more.
