Re: where can I buy the Lore spell
There are several ways to learn Lore. One is to buy the spell from a merchant. It shows up randomly at the various shops that have spell scrolls. Another way is to put points into it when you level up. Also, there are Lore rings (+2 to Lore per ring) that also show up in various shops. I have generally found them in Everdale. I don't believe there are any trainers.....

Thanks - I was hoping to buy the spell as it is a Divine type spell (I believe), thereby saving on having to use skill points. Can't seem to find anyone that sells it yet

Re: where can I buy the Lore spell
It appears randomly in the shops in Eastwillow and sometimes Port K. Either the magic shop or the innkeeper in Eastwillow could have it, or the dwarf innkeeper in Port K. Those are the most likely places. Also sometimes as random loot. Of course, you'd need the Lore spell to identify the scroll first.
Or pay one of the merchants to ID it. Their stock renews after 7 days, so check back.

Bought one finally - Now I have plenty to eat!
On another note - any suggestions for archer enemies? I am under the dam and the skeletal archers are really tough on my guy. Fleshboil isn't real effective (of course, they are all bones) - and melee works well, but they tend to run away and keep a distance so I am unable to bash them. I don't have any other offensive ranged spells, and am untrained in bows. Thanks

Re: where can I buy the Lore spell
If you don't want to study elemental magic (for the spells that damage them better and for Dense Nimbus, the spell that protects from ranged attacks), it's probably just best to stay out of there for now until you've gained some more levels and have the Mystic Hammer spell. Then you can mow through them pretty effectively.

I love the Eschalon character's strange stupidity: "I wonder what this is. I may have seen it before in a shop, but I can't be sure. Mum always said don't eat strange food."
Off-topic: I'm always late to the discussion! Am I really the only one on this side of the planet?

My favorite was always the jagged stones. "It looks like a stone, but it has this weird jagged edge. I better not throw it at anything just to be safe."Lord_P wrote:I love the Eschalon character's strange stupidity: "I wonder what this is. I may have seen it before in a shop, but I can't be sure. Weapons made from expensive metals: "Sure it looks and handles like a sword, but you don't know what it's made of. Maybe it explodes if you wield it?"
Re: where can I buy the Lore spell
Ha. I can understand the reasons for not equipping something, as that would let the player see the change in stats...
Also, as to not drinking unidentified potions? obviously my character never went to college...
It's a pretty minor detail, but if it's not to difficult, a nice option for Book III would be to just label the unknowns as 'strange', 'unusual', or whatever, plus the item (strange sword, odd gloves, whatever), and have it so that the bonuses don't apply/activate until the item is identified? (or maybe unidentified can't be repaired until identification?) may be more trouble than it's worth. Also, equipping unknowns would be a lot more risky if there were cursed objects in the game, but that's a whole other can of worms.
anyways, not to be too critical or anything, I love the series so far, and glad that at least someone is making some oldschool style rpgs.
