The New Book III Screenshots
Re: The New Book III Screenshots
That would be a fun, side-quest perhaps.
I also noticed in that screenshot, that those trees look quite jungle-y.
Makes sense based off our final view from Book II, I suppose. I'm still completely at a loss as for where this jungle might actually be. Don't tell us though BW, I'd rather find out while playing.

New graphic for status of silent. It's the little improvements that make it better.

And 13 has always been a lucky number for me. I'm really, really looking forward to 2013 now.
Oh and to add, the ship has a black *hole* in front of the character, so I believe we will be able to go inside.

It's too bad we can't 'freeze' the water from ship to shore, to get to the other side. And I did notice the trees too. Waiting is SOOOOooooo hard!

That's an oddly anachronistic ship for such a detailed model. I think. I used to think book III would be in a different time than the previous two based on the whole time travel thing in fathamurk, but the earlier screenshots gave me some doubts. Now i'm not too sure again, but it's probably just done out of ignorance. It's a pet peeve of mine. :p

...maybe we're in the future?
Re: The New Book III Screenshots
The future is a possibility, though based purely on Alpha Screenshot 2, where Morwen says the Crux of Fire was stolen a short while back, I don't think we've traveled in time. That screenshot almost entirely ruins the idea of going back in time, though forward is still a slim possibility.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot.
But given that dwarves live longer than humans (or do they in Eschalon?), even ten years could be a short while for them.

These screenshots are really getting me revved up for Book III. I can't wait for it to come out. I really need to clean out some of my backlog before then.

That's pretty much what i thought. The ship might be chosen out of ignorance, but one could easily make the argument of this setting having a different technological progression than our own. The main character doesn't seem to notice anything odd of that sort about the wreck.Vroqren wrote:The future is a possibility, though based purely on Alpha Screenshot 2, where Morwen says the Crux of Fire was stolen a short while back, I don't think we've traveled in time. Given that Eschalon is a completely different world from our own, why would you think shipbuilding there would be in line with shipbuilding in our world? It's not terribly unlike the ships in Book II.Morgan Terror wrote:That's pretty much what i thought. I'm actually wondering if it really is the same ship type now. The rig's pretty much the same, but i'm not so sure about the rest. The steel-plated hull's the main thing that caught my eye.

Re: The New Book III Screenshots
Oh yeah, he does! I completely forgot about that. Well then, that settles it.
For the curious, the ship in the new screenshot looks like it's from around 1900, possibly a decade or two later. As for the others, the one on the left looks like an early galleon from around the mid 1400's, with reasonable accuracy. As for the right one, i'm not sure. Looks like a fantasy design with a fair share of cog-inspired and mediterranean elements. Bit like a chebec with a more northern rig, though i'm not sure why the topmast piece is facing backwards, or why it's even there at all. Like i said, fantasy design. Now that i look at it, the topmast pieces are also facing the wrong way on the galleon. I guess it's one of the setting's characteristics.
Funnily enough, i think the game correctly refers to the ship as a galleon in the second game's intro, even though the ship depicted there is based on columbus' caravel.
That's about it for the nautical rant for today.
Overall i'd say i'm happy with how the game handled it.

Re: The New Book III Screenshots
Turns out i need to correct my rant. Started up book II yesterday, and the ship in the intro is completely identical to the ones in port Kuudad. Nice job on consistency there.
