Question regarding the day/time in the game & Predator Sight

Post by Jokah »

I am currently playing Ranger at the moment so..

I have researched on BG website via Search function trying to find the answers for Predator's Sight availability and location to get it.

Correct if I am wrong. So my understanding is this Predator's Sight is "random" spell scroll in the game which makes it a bit challenging for a Ranger. I've tried the combination of Cat's Eye and Gravedigger's Flame to make it a bit easier but not often used. Some posts suggested that I check stores once every week for re-stocked random items and pray that Predator's Sight is there.

So here is my question.

How do I know what day I am on in-game? I do not see any indicator to determine what day I am on and when the store is restocked already?

I am supposed to sleep a day at time and check, rinse and repeat?

Thank you in advances to any replies!

The game cycles through day and night with the symbol at the top if you want to keep track on your own. The stores restock one week after you first visit that store so they won't all restock at the same time.

As a Ranger, try to hunt during the day and camp/shop at night. Hold off on dungeons for now.

*nods* That is pretty much what I did. Tracking my own days since the "symbol at the top" doesn't show the day. With Hunger & Thirst being in-game, it isn't feasible to pass the time quickly to advance to new week.

"Stores restock one week after first visit" <-- That is good to know. Thank you for that.

Appreciate the helpful tips.

What you can do is try to remember to click on the Game Stats button (right side of the bar just before the Menu button), which includes "Game Days Played" among the stats, when you first get to a new shop. After that, you can keep checking to see if a multiple of 7 days has passed.

Also, the scrolls in Book II show up rather randomly. It has been my experience that Predator Sight is normally not found before Port Kuudad.

I was once playing a Ranger, and was in desperate need of Predator Sight, but it simply wouldn't ever be in inventory. I finally buckled and kept re-loading from the same save (scumming) until it showed up. Of course, when I don't need it so much it is there the first time I arrive in the town...

Yeah that is what I did, reloading the saved game til I see Predator Sight in store. That didn't do me any good and I gave up, but I got Create Food out of it, not sure if that is hard to get.

Then I teleported to Everdale and checked vendor on first try , there it was! I made sure it was Predator Sight, sure enough it was!

... 589 gold... made me cringe.. I was poor. I had to sacrifice my purple amulet to acquire it.. :(

Then I teleported to Port Kuudad to turn in a quest then checked magick store on first try, there it is again!

2 Predator Sight scrolls in 10 minutes..

Now my ranger is happy and off to hunt, anxious to try out the spell! Hope it is worth the investment and sacrifice of necklace! :D
