um.. Pick Lock WAY too easy? [Possible Spoiler?]

Post by Jaesun »

Somewhat early on, I found a book that gave me the lock pick skill at 1. I then found some lockpicking gloves +3. This gives me a total of 4 in Pick Lock. With this measly 4 points, I have been able to pick open EVERY door/chest I have found in the game. Granted I have broken a few lock picks (and sadly like only 4 or 5). Is this supposed to be that easy?

Not complaining however. :D

With Save/Reload exploit, it is that easy.

Without, if you don't mind breaking a few picks, it's still pretty easy. With Lockpick around 4-7 you have at least a ~10% - 15% chance even on the hard locks, which is enough if you load up on lockpicks or use Save/Reload to get by.

Perhaps there will be tougher locks in the sequels...

Either I'm really really lucky (And NO, I am not doing the re-load exploit). *Most* if not all chest and doors I have found, with my gloves on, are around 24 to 30% chance of success. Even if I fail, the lock pick is not broken (maybe it is supposed too?). I basically can try to pick something 5 or 6 times before a lock pick will break. By that time, I usually have unlocked it.

Maybe bug?

Then your getting really lucky (or I was very unlucky). I've broken several lockpicks on a single lock that I had 30% chance opening.

What is your skill level in lockpick?

Mine is at 4 with the gloves.

Not sure what it was then, but it is at 8 now. I still break lockpicks.

WOW! I must be incredibly lucky! Even the door that you can pick near the end, the room with all the chests, I had a 16% chance. I picked it open on the first try. o.O

I only bought 15(?) lock picks and ended the game with 8 of them.

I guess that makes up for all my HORRIBLE loot drops I found.

You went through the entire game using 7 lock picks? That is insane luck. You should go buy a lottery ticket. :)

I broke THREE lockpicks on the very first lock I tried with a 25% success rate! I don't even bother if it's less than 20%...I just whip out my mace. 8)
